Course demonstration
The English for Health Professionals: Nurses course is designed for nurses who wish to improve their spoken communication skills: pronunciation, accuracy and appropriate language for communicating with patients.
The English for Health Professionals: Nurses course is video based. Observations and interactive tasks encourage the health professional to explore the communication presented. Lists of useful language, explanations of language points, fact sheets and case studies are provided for further practice.
English for Health Professionals: Nurses has six units based on a variety of hospital situations which are demonstrated via video. Each unit also provides listening exercises and a range of language, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary exercises and fact sheets. The course is supported by a printable workbook which provides additional practice.
Unit 1 begins with a morning shift-handover where a nurse from the night-shift gives information about her patients to the nurses in the morning-shift.
Units 2 to 5 cover interactions with patients and their families and other nurses and health professionals.
Unit 6 is the afternoon shift-handover where the nurses from the morning-shift give information about their patients to the afternoon-shift nurses.
