Language of Childbirth

Overview

The Language of Childbirth course is designed for women who are planning for pregnancy and women who are pregnant and going to give birth in an Australian hospital. The course covers five stages of motherhood: pregnancy, getting ready, labour, the birth and you and your baby.

Learning outcomes

In the Language of Childbirth course you learn:

  • to use key vocabulary you need to talk about pregnancy and childbirth
  • to listen and speak confidently to midwives, doctors and nurses
  • about antenatal and postnatal procedures in Australia

Eligibility

There are classes at CSWE II and CSWE III levels. Classes are free for eligible migrants under the government funded Adult Migrant English Program. Read more about Eligibility.
