Certificates in Spoken and Written English (CSWE)

The Certificates I - IV in Spoken and Written English provide a curriculum framework to develop the spoken and written English language, literacy and numeracy skills of beginner, post-beginner, intermediate and advanced learners. It is the national curriculum framework for the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) and may be delivered face to face, by distance or online.

The curriculum documents contain theoretical background to the curriculum framework, an introduction to syllabus design, the modules and learning outcomes, as well as assessment strategies. The assessment grids are available on CD as interactive Word documents. The sample assessment tasks are also available on CD and include audio recordings of the listening tasks. CSWE training is available for RTOs that have not previously held a CSWE license. Course details and payment options are available online.

NOTE: The Licence Fee covers the cost of the curriculum and one primary delivery site. Additional Site Licence Fees cover the cost for delivery at additional sites. A site is defined as an educational centre at which continuous tuition is offered, inclusive of any outreach/community site which does not offer continuous tuition but which is serviced/administered from the educational centre at which continuous tuition is offered. A site licence must be purchased for each additional site where the curriculum is delivered.

Example: ABC College is based in Penrith. It delivers CSWE II at its colleges in Penrith, Pymble, and Punchbowl. It also delivers ad hoc training to a community group in Parramatta which is administered through its Penrith college. To deliver CSWE II, ABC College pays a Licence Fee and two Additional Site Licence Fees to cover delivery at Penrith, Pymble and Puncbowl. Delivery at Parramatta is covered by the Penrith licence.
