Workplace English Language and Literacy Program
Organisations and individuals may be eligible for government
funding to improve the English language, literacy and numeracy skills of the
Australian workforce. NSW AMES can make an initial assessment of your eligibility
for funding, assist with your funding application and the design and delivery
of the required training.
Workplace English Language and Literacy Program
The Australian Government provides more than $14 million annually
under the Workplace
English Language and Literacy (WELL) Program. Over 18,000 Australian
workers receive training under WELL each year. Each program is jointly funded
by the Australian Government and the organisation, and is available to all
industry sectors. Private and government business enterprises, local government
organisations, representative bodies and RTOs are eligible to apply for WELL
funding.
Organisations must establish the need for language, literacy
and numeracy training in the workplace. Employee participation is voluntary
and usually undertaken on-site during work hours, typically 1 to 3 hours per
week. NSW AMES will integrate WELL training with existing industry qualifications
or in-house programmes. WELL training designed and delivered by NSW
AMES may include:
- authentic workplace spoken and written texts
- modules of the Certificates in Spoken and Written English (CSWE II, III
or IV)
- customisation of NSW AMES published resources
